The program’s primary objective is to provide comprehensive training encompassing all related aspects outlined in both parts A and B of the ISPS Code, thereby conferring a professional qualification upon participants as Ship Security Officers in strict accordance with ISPS Code regulations. A Ship Security Officer (SSO), as designated by the company and the vessel’s Master, assumes the pivotal responsibility of safeguarding the ship’s security. The training regimen adheres meticulously to the specifications stipulated within the IMO model course 3.19 and the STCW 1978 Convention, as amended.
The Ship Security officer (SSO) ensures both the security of the ship as well as the implementation and support of the ship security plan and ISPS Code requirements. The SSO in association with the Company Security Officer (CSO) will ensure the safety awareness of the crew on board.
After the completion of this course, every candidate for the certificate of proficiency as a Ship Security Officer shall be able to demonstrate competence to undertake certain tasks, duties and responsibilities.
